1. Derricks 吊杆
Derricks are still the fastest and most efficient method of handling general cargo.
The commonly found derricks on board ships are:
(1) single derrick 单吊
(2) union purchase system 双杆联吊
3. Cargo slings 吊索
A general cargo ship, in loading and discharging cargo mainly uses the following cargo slings:
(1) rope sling (索套；绳吊索)
used to sling bags, bales, barrels and cases
(2) canvas sling (帆布吊兜)
used for bagged grain, rice, coffee and similar cargoes where the contents of the bag are small
(3) board sling (吊货盘)
used for slinging fragile cargo such as bags of cements
(4) chain sling (吊货链)

used for handling of big chassis, locomotives and such similar large size cargo
4. Nets and pallets 网和货盘
(1) Nets
used for handling small packages and mails or frozen meat
(2) pallets
used for carrying boxes of fish, bagged commodities, cartons and cased goods, drums of liquids and bales of rolls of papers
